The removal of an existing truss bridge spanning a river can be complex since the structure is typically too large to remove by crane and cannot be easily dismantled in place. The combined use of a roller guideway and barge support was used to remove the bridge at this location.
The existing steel truss bridge was strengthened, lifted onto a barge mounted, custom designed support frame on one end and onto rollers at the other end, one end removed, and dragged across the river to be dismantled.
